Our lovely Nauticat 33, Touch Wood is now for sale. We bought Touch Wood in 2003 after a two year search, eventually finding her in Lemmer, Holland. She was sound but not particularly pleasant to look at having a dirty dark blue hull. We asked our friend Paul Bonke to bring her down to the South Coast of England for us where we were working at the time and then berthed her in Brighton Marina. We started work on her while we were still in Brighton, adding all the things we thought we would need for living aboard and completed the work in New Haven. Some of the simple work we did ourselves but most was done by professional shipwrights in Brighton and New Haven.

Both of us are in the IT industry and having finished working we took a slow meander along the English south coast stopping in New Haven for a month or so to have the final work finished. Then on to Eastbourne Marina where we spent the winter. The following summer we headed for Dover and then, after many weather delays, crossed to Calais where we entered the French canal system. We spent the next two years cruising Europe’s canals but having been called back for personal reasons we left Touch Wood in storage at the Shipyard in Lemmer where she has been ever since. She’s being stored in a climate controlled warehouse, so she’s being well looked after but we think it unlikely that we’ll be able to get back to her. Hence the fact that she’s now for sale. She has a VERY full inventory as can be seen from the inventory page and a lot of money was spent updating her.
The crane that took the masts off in Calais dropped the main mast onto concrete and damaged it, but as we had always intended Touch Wood to be our canal boat we decided to abandon both masts there. We will either be replacing the masts before sale or selling her at a reduced price to allow the new owner to make their own arrangements.
There is no VAT payable on Touch Wood and she is registered on the Small Ships Register in the UK
Price EUR 55,000.00 (Full Live Aboard Inventory Included)

Following a professional refit, we lived on board Touch Wood for three years and then placed her in a specialized storage facility where she has been for the last five years
